TJ Isaac takes over as Wayanad DCC president, vows focus on local elections

Kalpetta (Wayanad): TJ Isaac has been appointed president of the Wayanad District Congress Committee, with the decision receiving approval from the Congress high command.
The All India Congress Committee announced Isaac’s appointment as permanent president, dismissing earlier speculation that he would be given only temporary charge. Isaac is also chairman of the Kalpetta Municipality.
Congress sources had earlier indicated that a temporary leader would be named, but the AICC moved quickly with a permanent choice. Party leaders, including MLA T Siddique, are reported to have backed Isaac.
Isaac said his priority is to prepare the party for the upcoming local body elections. He added that recent issues in the district would be resolved and that “there are no problems that cannot be solved”.
His appointment comes following the resignation of former DCC president ND Appachan. While Appachan said his resignation was unrelated to recent issues, including the suicides of local leaders, and that it had been planned earlier, party insiders suggested that both the high command and the KPCC leadership pressed for his exit.
