Tiger sighted: Schools in two Wayanad panchayats closed on Tuesday

Kalpetta: Following a tiger sighting in a residential area, the authorities have declared a holiday for educational institutions in certain wards of two panchayats in Wayanad on Tuesday.

The District Collector, D R Meghashree, announced that all educational institutions, including schools, anganwadis and madrasas, will remain closed on Tuesday (December 16, 2025) in the following wards:

• Panamaram Grama Panchayat: Wards 6, 7, 8, 14, 15
• Kaniyambetta Grama Panchayat: Wards 5, 6, 7, 19, 20 

Exams scheduled for the day have also been cancelled.
