Thrissur govt staffers conduct prayer at office to ward off negative energy; Collector orders probe

Thrissur: The District Child Protection Office here recently witnessed a prayer to ward off negative energy. The public prayer was reportedly led by a childline activist under the instruction of the District Child Protection Officer. The childline activist reportedly brought a Bible and a cassock for the prayer. Though some of the staffers had objection towards it they had no choice but to obey District Child Protection Officer. The district collector has ordered a probe into the matter. 

According to reports, the incident happened weeks ago. It was on short notice that the Officer intimated about the prayer. The intimation came at 4:30 pm and the majority of employees being contract staffers were not able to turn it down, fearing retaliation.

The District Child Protection Officer used to say that negative energy is the reason why the office has been facing too many issues. Hence, the prayer was conducted to ward off negative energy. 

The incident somehow leaked from insiders and complaints over the matter have been lodged with the Women & Child Development Department and Chief Minister.
