Threats, taunts and kiss offer: Elusive history-sheeter challenges Kerala police, Home Minister

A massive manhunt is reportedly underway for 26-year-old history-sheeter Arjun Ayanki, who remains on the run while openly challenging the police and Kerala Home Minister.

Ayanki was previously associated with the CPM’s youth wing, the DYFI, but was later expelled following his involvement in criminal cases.

Oonnukal (Ernakulam) police filed a fresh case against Ayanki on Thursday after he allegedly sent an abusive and threatening voice message to a senior police officer’s Instagram account late on Wednesday night.

Ayanki later shared the audio clip on Facebook. In the post, he declared that he had no intention of surrendering and suggested that some police officers had yet to face the consequences of their actions.

Ayanki challenges Home Minister

The latest confrontation comes amid growing tensions between Ayanki and the police following his arrest in May.

On Thursday, Ayanki also took to Facebook to directly challenge Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala. He demanded a fresh investigation into the cases registered against him and said he would honour the minister if such a probe established his innocence.

In a provocative message, Ayanki said he would personally meet the Home Minister if a fair investigation proved him innocent. He even promised to honour Chennithala with a traditional ponnada, or ceremonial shawl, and a kiss.

The remarks came after the minister warned that the state would use its full strength against people who threaten or intimidate police officers.

Claims of fabricated cases

Ayanki has disputed the allegations against him and claimed that his arrest in May was the result of a fabricated police operation.

According to his version of events, he was attending a friend’s wedding when police arrested him. He has also claimed that he was trying to rebuild his life through a startup venture, but that police action, including the seizure of his equipment and registration of cases, had jeopardised his future.

Police track his movements

Despite remaining active on social media, Ayanki has so far managed to evade arrest.

Police have reportedly conducted extensive raids at several locations in Kochi while attempting to trace him. His last known location was reportedly in the Ernakulam area.

Investigators also suspect that other people could be operating his social media accounts on his behalf, potentially creating confusion about his actual whereabouts.

As the police intensify their search, reports suggest that Ayanki is preparing to approach the Supreme Court seeking legal protection.

He has continued to maintain that he is no longer afraid of the system. In his social media posts, he has said that he has lost everything and is prepared to face whatever action the authorities take.

For now, the search continues as Ayanki remains active online while police attempt to locate and arrest him.
