Thiruvananthapuram: A hoax bomb threat email was received by the manager of the South Indian Bank’s Mukkola branch in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, prompting a police probe and security inspection.

The threatening email was sent to the branch manager’s official email address. The bomb squad and local police conducted a detailed search of the bank premises, but no suspicious objects were found.

Police confirmed that this is the second hoax bomb threat email received by the branch within the past two weeks. The earlier alert had also turned out to be false.

Investigators said the emails contained references to the LTTE, similar to recent bomb hoax messages reported elsewhere in the state, especially in Thiruvananthapuram. Cyber experts are analysing the email trail to trace the sender.

Security has been stepped up at the South Indian Bank Mukkola branch as the investigation continues.
