Free swimming training for paraplegic persons in Thrissur

Thrissur: Darsana Service Society, which works for the welfare of the differently-abled, initiated a new project to provide training in swimming for the wheelchair-bound persons. The paraplegic people will be trained to swim using shoulders and hands. Those who can operate their wheelchairs on their own can swim here. Though the training involves strenuous efforts, the result would be miraculous, the trainers said.

The training will be conducted in cooperation with Jasno Edusports in Puranattukara. The free training for the physically challenged persons will be imparted at the swimming pool set up only two months back.

Darsana Service Society president Father Solemen Kadanpattuparambil said that 8 men and 8 women have registered for the swimming training till date. At least, one month has been expected to train a person which is being conducted for one hour per day.
