Voice clip of Swapna Suresh: Director General of Prisons orders probe

Kochi: Director General of Prisons Rishiraj Singh has ordered a probe into the incident in which a voice clip surfaced claiming to be from the gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh, who is currently lodged in Attakulangara Women’s Prison. The DGP directed the South Zone DIG to submit a probe report on Thursday itself.
The audio message says that some of the investigators in the probe team forced her to take Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s name in the case. A news portal has released the voice clip claiming to be that of Swapna.
In the message she further says that the probe team officials offered her to turn approver in the case, if she took CM’s name. She also alleged that she was forced to sign without reading the record of her statement.
The probe agency said that the statement submitted in the court mentions she and former Principal Secretary to CM Sivasankar went to UAE and conducted discussions on behalf of CM and if she accepts the same in court, she could turn approver.
Earlier, BJP state president K Surendran had alleged that many accomplices of the chief minister had visited Swapna at the jail.
