Swapna Suresh repeats former consul general’s involvement in gold smuggling

Kochi: During an interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate, accused Swapna Suresh reiterated the connivance of former consul general of the UAE consulate in the gold smuggling case. ED was quizzing her based on her WhatsApp chat with the former consul general Jamal Hussain. 

The chat allegedly indicated that Jamal has a connection with the gold smuggling case. Following the questioning of over five hours, Swapna was asked to appear again on Thursday for interrogation. 

The court had handed over a copy of confidential statements collected by the Customs from Swapna one-and-a-half-year back to the ED. The national investigation agency may question her again for seeking details in relation to the procured confidential statements. 

The investigation agencies have retrieved the WhatsApp chats from the mobile phone of Swapna Suresh, which included the chat with the former consul general.
