Crime branch to probe into alleged voice clip of Swapna Suresh

Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch will investigate into the alleged voice clip of gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh.

DGP Loknath Behera informed that a special Crime Branch team will investigate the matter. The move comes after the Enforcement Directorate ED sent a second letter to the Prisons Department seeking a probe into the audio clip.

Earlier, the Prisons Department had handed over the letter from ED, demanding an investigation into the alleged audio clip of Swapna Suresh, to Police.

Prisons DGP Rishi Raj Singh had handed over the letter to state police chief Loknath Behera. The Prisons Department had demanded a proper investigation into the incident.

Initially, the Prisons Department did not respond to the letter sent by ED. Following this, the ED gave a letter to Rishi Raj Singh for the second time.

An online portal had released the audio clip allegedly of Swapna Suresh. It was stated in the audio clip that investigation agencies were forcing her to give statements against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Although the audio clip did not mention anything about ED, news reports came out stating that ED was forcing Swapna to give statements against the CM.

It is reported that Customs department will also demand an investigation as Swapna has been charged with COFEPOSA.
