Thiruvananthapuram: In a direct attack on Congres leader and KPCC president, CPM state secretary MV Govindan on Sunday alleged that K Sudhakaran was present when controversial self-styled antique dealer Monson Mavunkal sexually assaulted a minor girl at his property.

He added that the survivor had issued a statement to Crime Branch, naming Sudhakaran at the place of the incident.

"Crime Branch has informed that Sudhakaran need to be questioned in the POCSO case. The girl has issued a statement to Crime Branch saying Sudhakaran was present at the spot. Monson Mavunkal was convicted in the same case," Govindan said.

He added that the party or the government has no intention of  fabricating cases against anyone.

The remark came a day after a Special POCSO court sentenced Monson Mavunkal to life imprisonment till the end of his natural life for repeatedly raping a minor girl a few years ago and said the convict does not deserve any leniency
