2 years away from classes for heart transplant, Finu Sherrin passes SSLC with flying colours

Koduvalli: Finu Sherrin, a student of Madavur Chakkalakkal Higher Secondary School, who had to drop her studies midway due to a serious heart condition, passed the SSLC exams with flying colours. Finu secured 9 A plus grades and one A grade.

It has to be noted that Finu’s success without the help of grace marks comes after she had to discontinue her studies for 2 years. Being forced to discontinue studies while studying in Class 10 affected her mentally.

The cost of the surgery was taken care of by a committee formed by the local residents and the school authorities. Salim Madavur was the chairman, Musthafa Nusari acted as the working chairman and MM Habeeb was the convener of this committee.

The family had to wait two years for the heart in Bengaluru and Kozhikode. Later, the parents of Vishnu, who suffered brain death at the Kozhikode Medical College, agreed to donate his heart to Finu. Vishnu, son of Kozhikode natives Sunil and Beena, died after being involved in a bike accident.

After this, Finu was brought back to Kozhikode from Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences.

The surgery was done under the leadership of Dr Nandakumar of Kozhikode Metro Cardio Centre.
