Student writes incorrect register number on answer script, invigilator fined Rs 3000

Kozhikode: An invigilator was fined Rs 3000 for a student writing the incorrect register number on the answer sheet for plus one examinations. Director of General education (DGE) S. Shanavas issued the order levying a penalty on a higher secondary teacher in Alappuzha.
Although the teacher tried to explain that the mistake was not intentional, the DGE assessed it to be a grave mistake. The incorrect number was written on the student’s plus one English paper.
The charge against the teacher is that the invigilator failed to check the particulars written on the facing sheet. The DGE said that this lapse caused a delay in the publishing of the student’s results.
Teachers union AHSTA General Secretary S. Manoj said that the department officials are working devotedly to solve the financial crisis by levying fines amounting to thousands of rupees for trivial incidents.
