Stale food seized from college canteen, hostel in Aluva

Aluva: The food safety authorities have seized stale food items from a college canteen and a ladies' hostel during a raid here on Tuesday. 

The department conducted raids in 11 institutions in Aluva. Food inspectors discovered synthetic food colours used in cooking as well as expired lime juice stowed in a freezer at the college canteen.

According to the reports, inspectors seized large quantities of stale food items from a ladies' hostel. The authorities have imposed fines and issued further orders to restrict the preparation of food here.
