Kozhikode: Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) state leadership has decided to issue a show-cause notice to 9 rebel members who hosted a meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. The notice will be issued to the LJD leaders including Sheikh P Harris and V Surendran Pillai.

LJD State president and MP M V Shreyams Kumar, while addressing the media said that these members are obliged to reply to the state leadership within 48 hours of accepting the notice.

“The party doors won’t be closed to the members who violated the party discipline if they are ready to rectify their mistakes. However, if they are about to go ahead with the activities which are contrary to the party, stringent action will be taken,” he pointed out.

Shreyams Kumar condemned the rebels' meet and the press conference as a move against LJD.

"Rebels would not be entertained in the party. Because we are not trying to weaken the party, we are taking efforts to strengthen it," he added.

The rebel leaders had raised a demand that Shreyams Kumar should resign from the state president post before November 20. However, Shreyams Kumar informed that the demand was rejected in the meet held on Saturday.

Though rebel leaders claimed that they have the support of LJD’s lone-MLA KP Mohanan and All Inda General Secretary Varghese George, both leaders declared that they stand by the party's decision.
