Special team of Kerala Police to probe death of minor girl at religious institution in TVM

Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of the allegations levelled by the kin of a minor girl, who was found dead inside a religious institution here, Kerala Police have formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case. The investigation will be led by Neyyattinkara DySP.
Asmiya Mol, a native of Beemapally was found hanging inside the library of a Islamic religious institution at Balaramapuram on Saturday. Following which, her relatives lodged a complaint with the police alleging mystery over the death.
The deceased was staying in the hostel. According to Balaramapuram police, Asmiya Mol called her mother on Saturday afternoon and asked to take her back home.
"Her mother reached the institution at around 4.30 pm. She was asked to get permission [from higher authorities for taking the girl home]. Around 6.30 pm, she was informed that the girl was found hanging inside the library. Her mother took her to a private hospital in Neyyattinkara. She was declared dead on arrival at 7 pm," police said.
A case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPC and an investigation is underway.
