Thiruvananthapuram: The suspension of SP Sujit Das, following serious allegations made by MLA P V Anvar, was implemented under the direct intervention of DGP Sheikh Darvesh Saheb. The police chief collected all information of Sujit Das’ activities during his tenure at the Malappuram SP Office. After examining the orders issued, actions taken, and travel documents processed by Sujit Das during his time as Malappuram SP, the suspension was ordered.

The Chief Minister was apprised of the information received by the DGP.  Following this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan ordered the suspension.

A departmental inquiry was ordered after the phone conversation with Anvar came out. An investigation by the Range DIG found that Sujit Das had committed serious indiscipline. The suspension was announced on the basis of this.

However, despite receiving the DIG's report, no action was taken against the officer. The report had suggested removal of Sujith Das from the post of Pathanamthitta District SP. Following this the DGP started collecting all the data pertaining to Sujith Das. The measures taken by Sujit Das during his time as Malappuram SP were mainly examined.

The required files were collected with the help of the Intelligence Department and the current SP. Circulars, orders and information regarding the functioning of DANSAF ( District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force), headed by Sujit Das, were examined. Sujit Das's travel documents were also checked when he was SP.

Information of CIs and SIs known to be Sujit Das' men was also collected. Many of them faced action after the new SP took charge. The DGP has found that these people are facing action because of their connection with the soil-quarry mafia.
