Southern Railway adds special trains for Sabarimala pilgrims on Mangaluru–T’puram North route

The Southern Railway has announced a series of weekly special trains between Mangaluru Junction and Thiruvananthapuram North for the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. These services will operate through December and January to support the surge in pilgrim travel and improve connectivity on the route. Bookings for all trains will open from Wednesday.

Train No. 06041 from Mangaluru Junction to Thiruvananthapuram North will depart at 6 pm on Sundays from December 7, 2025, to January 18, 2026. This accounts for seven services. The train will reach Thiruvananthapuram North at 6.30 am the following day.

Train No. 06042 from Thiruvananthapuram North to Mangaluru Junction will leave at 8.30 am on Mondays from December 8, 2025, to January 19, 2026. This also includes seven services. The train will arrive at Mangaluru Central at 8.30 pm on the same day.

The trains will halt at Kasaragod, Kanhangad, Payyanur, Kannur, Thalassery, Vadakara, Kozhikode, Tirur, Shoranur, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Changanassery, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Kayamkulam, and Kollam.

The coach composition features one AC 2-tier coach, three AC 3-tier coaches, 15 sleeper coaches, and two second-class coaches designed to be divyang-friendly.

South Central Railway announces extra services for Sabarimala pilgrims

In connection with the Sabarimala season, the South Central Railway will also operate several special trains to Kollam Junction.

Train No. 07117 from Sirpur Kaghaznagar to Kollam Junction will run as a single service on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

Two services from Charlapalli to Kollam Junction have been scheduled under Train No. 07119 on Wednesdays, December 17 and December 31, 2025.

Another service, Train No. 07121, will operate on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Train No. 07123 from Hazur Sahib Nanded to Kollam Junction will run once on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.

For the return trips from Kollam Junction, four special trains will operate to Charlapalli.

Train No. 07118 will run once on Monday, December 15, 2025. Train No. 07120 will operate twice on Fridays, December 19, 2025, and January 2, 2026. The remaining two single-service trips are Train No. 07122 on Monday, December 22, 2025, and Train No. 07124 on Friday, December 26, 2025.

These services are expected to ease holiday-season and Sabarimala-related travel. Passengers can reserve tickets from Wednesday onwards.
