Southern Railway introduces Vistadome AC coach on Madurai–Guruvayur Express for scenic Ghat view

Thiruvananthapuram: Southern Railway announced on Sunday the introduction of an Executive Vistadome AC coach on the popular Madurai–Guruvayur Express, offering passengers sweeping views of the Western Ghats along the Sengottai–Punalur ghat route and the Aryankavu pass.

According to an official release, the Vistadome coach will operate on a temporary basis from Madurai on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, covering journeys scheduled between October 22, 2026 and January 15, 2027.

For the return service from Guruvayur, the coach will run on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays for trips commencing between October 23, 2026 and January 16, 2027.

Ticket reservations are now open. The base fare for the Executive Vistadome coach starts at approximately ₹515, while the complete end-to-end journey is priced at approximately ₹1,875.

“Passengers will be able to enjoy the routes, lush green landscapes and mountain vistas of Sengottai gap connecting Kerala and Tamil Nadu in comfort, combining the convenience of rail travel with the natural splendour of the region,” the release said.
