Thiruvananthapuram/Chennai: In a significant development in the Sabarimala gold theft case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has traced a key figure referred to as “D Mani” in Chennai and recorded his statement.

The individual, also known as “Dawood Mani,” reportedly has a different real name, which the SIT has kept confidential.

The SIT deployed a special squad to Chennai based on information provided by former opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. After several days of investigation, they located the person identified as D Mani. According to allegations by Chennitha accused Unnikrishnan Potti.

Mani is said to be an antique trader, and the foreign industrialist has testified about their business dealings. However, it is not yet clear whether these transactions are connected to the gold stolen from Sabarimala.

The SIT clarified that only preliminary questioning has taken place, and Mani has not been taken into custody. The team is investigating whether he had a direct or indirect role in the Sabarimala case. Chennithala had earlier alleged international links in the case. If Mani’s involvement is established, the SIT plans to expand the probe internationally.

Earlier, Chennithala had demanded a court-supervised probe or a CBI investigation, citing delays and alleged government interference.
