"I consider her as my child, she has been served justice," says key witness in Sister Abhaya case

Kottayam: Soon after the CBI special court here declared the accused in the Sister Abhaya case as guilty, the key witness Adakka Raju responded to the media that he is happy to know the court verdict.
“I’m saying this considering her as my own daughter. She has been served justice. I’m very happy,” Adakka Raju stated.
An eye witness in the case, Adakka Raju’s statement was crucial in the Sister Abhaya murder case. A thief then, he had broken into convent on the day of incident and had seen Fr Kottoor and Fr Jose Poothrukkayil inside the convent.
Later, Adakka Raju gave this statement to the police. However, the defence counsel had argued how the court can trust a thief’s statement.
“I also have daughters and there are girl children in the neighbourhood. It is really hard to see them getting harmed. Many people tried to influence me with huge amount of money. But I didn’t receive it. I’m still living in colony. That girl should be served justice. That’s my only wish,” Adakka Raju told the media.
After the verdict was pronounced, social activist Jomon Puthenpurackal had opined that it was God who came in the form of Adakka Raju and became the eye witness.
