Sindhu Joy reveals reason for quitting CPM, terms decision to join Congress as ‘immature’

Kochi: Former politician Dr Sindhu Joy, who resigned from the CPM and later joined the Congress, on Tuesday revealed the reason behind her quitting the party. Taking to Facebook, Joy blamed factionalism within the CPM which crushed her self-esteem. According to Joy, it ruined her life and insulted her womanhood,  thus forcing her to leave the party. 

“Sindhu Joy was their prey; A victim who does not deserve mercy! Just a prey they found to trap giant sharks. A single, orphaned, and young victim. For 16 long years, my reputation and peace have been burned by the lies they prepared. Even as I write this, there is a pain in my heart!,” she wrote. 

Terming her decision to join the Congress as “immature”, Joy wrote, “Joining Congress was an immature decision taken in a moment she lost her mind. Like a naughty little child, my mind said, I don't want a party that doesn't care about me.”

“UDF even created a new post for me. As the chairperson of the State Youth Commission, this semi-starving woman got a good monthly honorarium, car, driver to travel, and office and staff to run it. The package was not bad,” she noted. 

However, Joy asserted that she felt it was like a 'reward' and the old comrade inside forced her to discard the post. Towards the end of the post, she clarified that she is no longer a member of any political party. Her plan is to keep away from politics for some time. 

Sindhu Joy, who was active in Kerala politics for a long time, entered politics through the SFI. She served as the national vice president of SFI and contested against Oommen Chandy from the Puthuppally constituency in the 2006 Assembly polls, ahead of leaving the party.
