Used ganja, meth before; sought treatment at de-addiction centre: Shine Tom Chacko tell cops

Kochi: Actor Shine Tom Chacko admitted to police of using ganja and methamphetamine during questioning on Saturday, according to media reports. He also reportedly confessed to purchasing drugs from Taslima Sulthana, a woman drug peddler who was arrested earlier this month with high-grade ganja valued at over ₹2 crore.
Earlier in the day, the Ernakulam North police registered a drug-related case against the actor. Shine had been evading police for the past few days after allegedly fleeing during a DANSAF team raid at a hotel in Kochi. In response, police visited his residence in Thrissur and summoned him for questioning on Saturday.
Following nearly three hours of questioning, police recorded his arrest. He was later taken to the Ernakulam Taluk Hospital for a medical examination to determine whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
According to reports, Shine had admitted to the police team that he had used drugs and had also sought treatment at a de-addiction centre. During questioning, he also claimed he had not used any substances on the day of the hotel raid.
Police sources said there were contradictions in his statements. During the interrogation, the actor admitted to knowing Sajeer, the middleman who was the target of the DANSAF operation. It is also reported that a drug deal worth ₹20,000 had taken place at the hotel.
As part of the investigation, the police have examined Shine’s Google Pay records and WhatsApp chats. The case has been registered under Sections 27 and 29(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
