Threats and allegations: Kannur woman stands firm amid CPM denials over bomb explosion

Kannur (Kerala): The woman, who spoke out against the CPM following the death of an elderly man in a country bomb explosion at Kudakalam in Eranjoli, alleged that CPM workers came to her home to threaten her. Seena, a neighbour of the deceased Velayudhan, said that party workers visited her house the previous night, threatening her and urging her mother to intervene.
She said that CPM women workers, including a Panchayat member from the area, visited her residence. They requested her mother to persuade Seena by discussing the issue with her. Seena's mother, however, responded that Seena would not heed her advice. Seena also stated that the incident has been reported to the police.
Seena had severely criticised the CPM in the incident of the death of the 85-year-old man, who had come to pick coconuts in an uninhabited house, in a bomb blast. Velayudhan died when he tried to open the steel container he got while picking coconuts by hitting it on the floor.
"Abandoned houses are being turned into bomb-making units. If anyone speaks out, their house will be bombed and destroyed. Even then, I will tell the truth. Velayudettan died when a bomb exploded when he went to pick coconuts. Women go to the fields to cut grass. If the bomb is kept there, will it not explode? In that case, we will be needing a bomb detecting machine. The house was rented out 15 years ago. The tenants then got scared and left saying there was a bomb in the house. Bombs used to be placed inside the stone walls. Does’nt the police have any idea about these things? Shouldn't we get peace as promised in the Constitution?'' Seena said.
However, the CPM denied the revelations made by her. Eranholi Panchayat member Nimisha alleged that Seena belonged to a family having allegiance to the Congress, and that she had not been living in the area for the past four years.
