New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted permission to People's Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Abdul Nasar Madani to stay in his hometown of Kollam. The court also said in its ruling that he needed to appear at the local police station every 15 days.

Abdul Nasar Madani should stay in Kollam district. However, he can leave the district for medical treatment after informing concerned police officials, the court said in its order. Meanwhile, the court has not mentioned anything about the requirement for police to accompany him.

The court also noted that the trial proceedings in the case against Madani were nearing completion. As a result, the court observed that Madani's presence is unnecessary. Based on this, the court let the PDP Chairman leave Bengaluru and return to Kerala.
