‘Satheesan is arrogant, won't beg anymore’: NSS chief hits out at CM as meeting denied twice

Changanassery: Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary G Sukumaran Nair has openly expressed his deep resentment over being denied an audience with Chief Minister V D Satheesan. Striking a confrontational tone, Sukumaran Nair labelled the Chief Minister "arrogant" and declared that the organisation would no longer "beg for his time".

The NSS leadership had reportedly reached out to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) twice requesting an official meeting. The discussion was sought regarding an amendment to income tax rules—a follow-up to a memorandum submitted during the previous state government’s tenure. However, both attempts to secure an appointment were rebuffed. Following this, the NSS chief launched a sharp public critique against the Chief Minister during the organisation's annual budget meeting held in Perunna.

The public feud between Chief Minister V D Satheesan and Sukumaran Nair dates back to the run-up to the recent assembly elections. The friction ignited when Satheesan made a statement implying that political leaders had no need to "loiter around the doorsteps" of community leaders. Taking strong offence, Sukumaran Nair had hit back at the time, retorting that Satheesan himself was someone who had spent hours waiting on the verandas of the NSS headquarters in Perunna in the past.
