Satheesan extends party’s unanimous support for Sudhakaran, condemns 'political witch hunt'

Kochi: Congress veteran and Opposition Leader VD Satheesan extended the party’s unanimous support to KPCC Chief K Sudhakaran, who stands accused in fake antique dealer cheating case.
The support comes at a time when Sudhakaran expressed his readiness to resign from the position of KPCC Chief, following interrogation and arrest in the case.
Satheesan said that the Congress will neither allow him to step down nor distance him from the party. “We had no deliberation in that angle. Sudhakaran is not alone, the entire party is behind him. We will provide him political and legal protection,” he said.
He termed the case against Sudhakaran as fake and attacked the state government over the matter. Satheesan reiterated that the Left government was "ruled by fear" and was therefore trying to silence the opposition by such tactics. “The government has been accepting framed complaints to witchhunt opposition leaders,” he alleged.
