Thiruvananthapuram: Unnikrishnan Potti, who is in SIT custody for the Sabarimala gold case, reportedly sold 476 grams of gold at market value in 2019. Ballari-based trader Govardhan allegedly purchased the gold, and records indicate economic transactions between Potti and Govardhan, Mathrubhumi News reported on Friday.

Chennai-based Smart Creations allegedly transferred gold to middlemen Kalpesh under Potti's instructions. Authorities are investigating how the proceeds were utilised, including 989 grams of 24-carat gold, of which 109 grams were taken by Smart Creations as its making charges. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is working to trace the remaining gold and determine all sales.
