Sabarimala aravana: Distribution capped at 20 tins per person; further cut likely if sales rise

Sabarimala — Even after the Mandalapooja concluded and the temple reopened, the distribution of aravana (offering) at Sabarimala continues to face a crisis. Authorities have decided that no individual should receive more than 20 tins at present. Decisions will be made in the coming days based on sales volume, officials said.
It is learnt that if sales rise, the quantity distributed per person may be further reduced. During the Mandalapooja, with limited aravana stock, distribution was capped at 10 tins per person. Currently, the stock stands at approximately 11 lakh tins.
Even after the temple doors closed following the Mandalapooja, production of aravana continued.
Initially, devotees received as much aravana as they demanded. On several days, distribution reached 4.5 lakh tins, creating supply pressures. Following this, authorities first restricted the limit to 20 tins and later reduced it to 10 tins per person.
According to Devaswom officials, the plant’s daily production capacity is 2.9 lakh tins, and under the current circumstances, it is not possible to distribute more than three lakh tins in a day.
