Kozhikode: A car caught fire while running on the Thamarassery pass. No one was injured in the incident.

The car was climbing the pass and caught fire below the 9th bend.

Passengers got out after seeing smoke coming from the front of the car. Soon the car caught in flames. It is learned that the car belongs to a native of Malappuram.

Firefighters arrived from Kalpetta and extinguished the fire. However, the car was completely gutted.

Thamarassery pass connects Wayanad to Kozhikode district. There are nine hairpin bends in this 14 km long pass. This great pass is known for its beauty and dangerous hairpins . 

This is the main entrance in four or five passes to Wayanad. It starts from Adivaram,a small town in Kozhikode district. 

The nine hairpin bends have always been dangerous to the drivers. The vehicles have to move slowly through the misty path. The night drive through the mountain pass is more challenging.
