Thrissur: An RTI petition filed by a man here in 2018 has finally got a reply in 2021. The officials have not replied to the questions that were raised by the complainant even after 3 years.

The question in the reply is- Does the need for this information still persist?

Retired Subedar K R Rajan had filed the petition.

Citing the delay in getting the RTI reply, Rajan, moved a complaint to the State Information Commission and the Health Minister directly.

The reason for the delay in the reply is stated as unprecedented times due to the Covid pandemic.

In the RTI plea, the petitioner asked whether private medical colleges can accept dead bodies. As per the RTI Act, the concerned authority must give a reply to the RTI petitions within 30 days.

At first, the petitioner moved a petition with the Health Department. It was later transferred to the Medical Education Director Office by the Health Department itself. Rajan had been alerted about this.

Irked with the delay in getting a reply to the RTI plea, Rajan filed a complaint with the State Information Commission.
