Mathrubhumi Impact: Ramani and family now have a stable roof over their heads

Kozhikode: Ramani and her family finally have a stable roof over their heads, thanks to the kindness of many. The poor family had been living in a house without a proper toilet on Kannur road.
Ramani’s family includes her sick mother, two sisters and two brothers. They depend on the toilets of other houses in the neighbourhood as they did not have one of their own. They did not have proper drinking water facility and have been struggling for the past 25 years to arrange these basic facilities at their home, but no one did anything to put an end to their misery.
The corporation councillor Dr Alphonsa Mathew came forward and offered help. That is when their story came out in the open. Last year, on April 27 their story was brought out before the public through Mathrubhumi. They started receiving small financial aid following that. Their house got a toilet, drinking water facility and they were also able to renovate their house. Ramani thanked everyone with teary eyes for the help and kindness they showered upon her and her family.
Ward councillor Dr Alphonsa Mathew, ward committee convenor Mohammed Rafeeq, Human rights activist K P Sathyakrishnan, and social worker Joy Prasad Pulikkal attended the house warming ceremony on Sunday.
