Kerala weather update: IMD warns of isolated heavy rains, puts 9 districts on yellow alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a yellow alert for several districts in Kerala, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall over the next five days.

November 22 (Saturday) & November 23 (Sunday): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam

November 24 (Monday): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram

November 25 (Tuesday) & November 26 (Wednesday): Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam

Rainfall intensity

The IMD clarified that the yellow alert indicates the likelihood of isolated heavy rainfall, with expected precipitation ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

Residents and travellers in the affected districts have been advised to take necessary precautions as the state braces for sporadic heavy showers.
