Rahul Gandhi likely to decide between Wayanad and Raebareli on Monday

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to resolve his dilemma on Monday regarding which Lok Sabha seat to retain—Wayanad or Raebareli.
Sources within the Congress party indicate that Gandhi will announce his decision on Monday. He secured a substantial majority in both constituencies during the recent elections.
Gandhi, who was the sitting Lok Sabha member from Wayanad, contested and won the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from both Wayanad and Raebareli. Raebareli is considered a traditional seat for the Gandhi family, previously represented by his mother, Sonia Gandhi, who opted for a Rajya Sabha seat instead of contesting the Lok Sabha elections.
While thanking his supporters in his constituency on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi expressed his indecision about which seat to retain. He assured his supporters that he would make a choice that would satisfy everyone.
Following his statement, there has been widespread speculation that his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, may contest from the seat he vacates.
State Congress President and Kannur Lok Sabha member K. Sudhakaran suggested during a public meeting in Kalpetta on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi might vacate the Wayanad seat for the greater good of the party.
Congress legislator and former state minister A.P. Anilkumar, who represents the Wandoor Assembly seat within the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, stated, "We all favour Rahul Gandhi retaining the Wayanad seat."
The anticipation surrounding Rahul Gandhi's decision has generated significant interest within political circles and among his supporters in both constituencies. IANS
