Rahul admits he arrived at hotel with the woman; name found in register, booked room no 408

Thiruvalla: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has completed evidence collection at Club 7 Hotel in Thiruvalla with MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who was arrested in a rape case. This is the hotel mentioned by the young woman in the third rape complaint filed against Rahul. During the evidence collection, Rahul admitted that he arrived at the hotel with the woman on April 8, 2024. The process lasted only 15 minutes.
The SIT found Rahul’s name recorded in the hotel register. Room No. 408 was booked by the complainant as per Rahul’s instructions. The evidence collection on Wednesday was carried out in this room. The room was booked in the complainant’s name. In the register, Rahul’s name was entered as “Rahul B.R.”, which is his actual name. However, the police were unable to retrieve CCTV footage from the date of the incident, as recordings had not been preserved. To recover the visuals, the police have collected the CCTV hard disk from the hotel.
After completing the evidence collection, Rahul was taken back to the AR camp. The SIT had left the Pathanamthitta AR camp with Rahul at 5.30 am for the evidence collection. By around 6.30 am, the procedure was completed, and he was brought back to the camp by about 7.30 am.
Although there were earlier reports that Rahul would be taken to his house in Adoor for further evidence collection after the inspection at Club 7 Hotel, he was instead brought back to the Pathanamthitta AR camp. The SIT will question him further there. Even during the evidence collection, Rahul had a smile on his face. When he was being put back into the police vehicle, the media sought his response, but Rahul did not utter a single word.
