Malappuram: On the first day in the assembly after severing ties with the LDF, PV Anvar, MLA, said he is not part of the opposition and would not sit with them. Speaking to reporters on Friday, he said that if the LDF has ousted him, he should be allowed to sit in a separate block in the assembly.

“If I was pushed to the opposition benches from the ruling side, the responsibility for that lies with the CPM. If they are so keen to see me on the opposition side, let’s see what will happen,” Anvar said. “I’ll consult legal experts regarding where to sit in the assembly. I plan to send a letter to the Speaker demanding a separate seat in the assembly,” he stated.

“I can very well sit on the floor of the assembly too. There is a fine carpet spread over the floor; I only need to bring a bath towel to spread over the carpet,” Anvar added. “The CPM district secretary has said that I won the election with the votes of the CPM. If that is the case, I don’t have the qualifications needed to sit in a chair. However, considering that there would still be some votes for me, I could very well sit on the floor with my towel. I am ready to do that,” he remarked.

“I have not received the legal notice sent by P. Sasi. When I receive it, I’ll respond. I submitted my complaint to the party, but I am not sure whether they opened my letter. If they had, the party secretary would not have claimed that there was nothing substantial,” Anvar said.

“Cases will keep coming against me. The CPM has been planning to file at least 100 cases against me after discussing the situation with legal experts. I am considering enrolling in an LLB course so that I can argue my cases,” he concluded.
