Idukki diocese puts forward guidelines for burial of PT Thomas' ashes

Kochi: Idukki diocese has come up with certain guidelines for the burial of the ashes of late Congress MLA PT Thomas. The three suggestions were put forward by Idukki diocese chief vicar general.

Most important suggestion proposed by the diocese is to protect the divinity of the church and the cemetery as the believers consider them as a holy place.

The burial ceremony is not held according to the customs of the church. However, a prayerful silence should be maintained during the ceremony, the diocese has suggested. This suggestion was put forward as the party workers who attend the event may shout slogans.

Another important suggestion is that both the party workers and those who lead the rituals should not hurt the religious sentiments of the Christian community.

PT Thomas had conveyed his last wishes to his friends before his demise. He wanted his ashes to be placed in his mother's grave at St Joseph's church in Upputhode. The procession carrying his ashes will take place on Monday.
