Thiruvananthapuram: The final session of the 15th Legislative Assembly also witnessed strong protests from the Opposition. The protest was staged demanding the resignation of the Devaswom Minister over the alleged gold theft at Sabarimala. Soon after the House convened and moved to Question Hour, the Opposition announced that it would not cooperate. MLAs entered the well of the House holding banners and placards.

In the absence of Leader of Opposition, MLA K Babu raised the issue. He repeated in the Assembly the same points he had made the previous day regarding the Sabarimala caser. K Babu brought up the issue relating to the arrest of the Tanthri. He also stated that the non-cooperation protest would continue in the House.

Responding to the Opposition, Ministers P Rajeev, MB Rajesh and V Sivankutty came forward with sharp criticism. Minister P Rajeev said that the current Assembly has the most ineffective, irresponsible and destructive Opposition in Kerala’s history, adding that this is why they have not even been able to bring a no-confidence motion against the government.

Minister MB Rajesh remarked that the Opposition appears to be in a mindset of somehow getting the session over with and escaping from the House.
