Copies of property documents now available online

Haripad: Getting copies of property documents has now become effortless. As the government has eased the procedure, copy made in stamp paper worth Rs 50 will be received via online just the day after online submission of the request. The colour printed version of the document can be used for government as well as court related proceedings. Document copies since 1988 can be acquired through this method.
Public can submit online requests for the same via the website of the Registration Department following which documents can be downloaded. Rs 380 is charged for individual copies of various documents and gahan deeds. Obtaining these copies earlier was a difficult task. Public had to pay the search cost directly at the sub registrar office after submitting online fee payment following which stamp paper worth Rs 50 as well as papers for printing the copies had to be submitted. The documents copies would then be handed over by the second working day.
If stamp paper worth Rs 50 was not available, pricier stamp papers would be purchased. In addition to fee payment, providing papers for copying as well had been part of the process for many years. Apparently, the applicants had to buy the paper as the government did not provide the same.
The new method provides online copies of documents on stamp paper itself.
