Land acquisition price for Palakkad-Kozhikode Greenfield NH revised

Perumanna (Kozhikode): The revaluation of the base price of land for the Palakkad-Kozhikode Greenfield Highway has been completed. Efforts are now focused on determining the compensation amount for landowners who have given their properties. The Competent Authority of Land Acquisition aims to finalize this process and offer compensation, pending approval from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). At the same time, it is reported that the revised valuation is lower than the initial price fixed,.
The price was fixed after the arbitral committee appointed by the collector found there was an error in fixing the land price. The NHAI project director complained that the previously fixed price was too high.
The Competent Authority of Land Acquisition had earlier fixed Rs 629 crore for land acquisition in Perumanna and Olavanna village limits through which the national highway passes. It was to acquire 29.7659 hectares of land for a 6.6 km long highway along with 16.56 hectares of land for Trumpet junction where the Greenfield highway meets the Pantheerankavu national highway. NHAI had allocated Rs 313 crore for this in two phases and began distributing compensation to the land owners giving priority to those who lost their homes. Later, NHAI found that the amount paid for Greenfield highway was about one and a half times more than that paid for NH 66. Due to this, the distribution of compensation amount was stalled.
