Kannur: In an escalating war of words, KPCC president K Sudhakaran on Monday retorted against CPM state secretary MV Govindan for his remarks over antique dealer Monson Mavunkal-linked POCSO case and called the leader an “indecent party secretary.”

Taking to Facebook, Sudhakaran took a jibe at Govindan and wrote, “I would like to tell you that you should at least show the dignity of your position. But if you think about it, then the quality of that position is itself what you are showing now!”

“Why are you or your party unable to level political allegations with even a modicum of culture, till date? After threatening all the media in the state and standing in front of people in a clownish guise, did you have to come out with the next stupidity so quickly?,” Sudhakaran asked.

Earlier on Sunday, Govindan had alleged that the survivor in the POCSO case had revealed in her statement before the Crime Branch (CB) that Sudhakaran was present when Monson sexually assaulted her. He even claimed that the CB would question Sudhakaran in the POCSO case. His allegations against Sudhakaran were based on a news report of the CPM-backed daily ‘Deshabhimani’.

Responding to Govindan's remark, CB officials said they had no plans to question the Congress leader in the case. The officials also clarified that Sudhakaran had been summoned for questioning in the cheating case, not the POCSO case.

Following which, Sudhakaran asked how the LDF leader came to know about the survivor’s confidential statement and added that the advocate who appeared in the case told the media otherwise.
