POCSO case: HC demands investigating team to produce secret statement given by minor

Kochi: The anticipatory bail plea of Roy J Vayalat, owner of Hotel No 18 in Fort Kochi, and other accused in the POCSO case will resume on Thursday. Meantime, High Court Justice P Gopinath directed that the secret statement given before the magistrate by the daughter of the complainant be produced before the court.
High Court viewed that bail can only be granted after examining the statement. The court also orally stated that bail will not be granted if a complaint was levelled against the accused in the statement given by the girl.
Earlier, Anjali Reema Dev, Saiju M Thankachan had approached the high court seeking anticipatory bail in the case. Defendant alleges that the complainant was attempting financial fraud.
The Additional Director General of Prosecutions said a detailed investigation into the case was underway. Following this, the court asked him to produce the secret statement given by the minor.
According to the complainant, Roy sexually assaulted a young woman and her minor daughter, who had arrived with Anjali at Hotel No 18 in Kochi.
