Permission granted for adjournment motion in Assembly to discuss police assault, two-hour discussion

Thiruvananthapuram: The opposition in Kerala has submitted a notice for adjournment motion to discuss the alleged police assault on Youth Congress Chowannur constituency president Sujith in Kunnamkulam, and the inaction despite complaints and evidence of lock-up beatings across the state.

The notice was submitted by Roji M John, KPA Majeed, Mons Joseph, Anoop Jacob, Mani C Kappan and KK Rema. The issue has drawn widespread public attention.

Chief Minister said the matter, being widely discussed in the community, was appropriate for a debate in the Assembly.

The Speaker adjourned the House and allowed the discussion to take place from 12 noon to 2 pm.
