Payyanur fund scam: CPM making move to pacify disgruntled V Kunhikrishnan

Payyannur: CPM is continuing attempts to pacify V Kunhikrishnan, who was removed as area secretary after he raised fund misappropriation allegations against his colleagues, including Payyanur MLA TI Madhusoodanan.
CPM Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan, state committee member and Payyanur area secretary in-charge TV Rajesh held discussions with Kunhikrishnan who had decided to end public service after the action against him. CPM had also taken action against the accused, but the removal of Kunhikrishnan irked party workers in the locality.
It may be noted that this is a highly unusual scene in the party. Normally CPM does not engage in such talks with the leaders who face party action. However, in Payyannur, the situation is different.
State committee member P Jayarajan had held talks with Kunhikrishnan which failed to make any positive output.
The latest discussion comes amidst the visit of politburo member A Vijayaraghavan to Vellur in Payyannur to inaugurate the office of CPM branch on Wednesday.
It is learnt that Kunhikrishnan may attend the branch office inauguration. Madhusoodanan will hoist the flag in front of the office. The office was rebuilt as the previous building was acquired for widening of the National Highway. The old office was built when Kunhikrishnan was the branch secretary.
