Three prominent Syro Malabar Synod members have entry even to CM’s kitchen: Fr Thelakkat’s book

 Alappuzha: Three prominent persons of Syro Malabar Synod have entry even to the Chief Minister’s kitchen, alleges the Church’s former spokesperson, Fr Paul Thelakkatt, in his autobiography ‘Kathavashesham’.

 

The 75-year-old priest asks in the book, written before his retirement, “Wasn’t the church run by virtue of that bonding and police might? Who is unaware of the silent agreements made with the Marxist Party in Kerala and Hindutva Party at the Centre?”

The autobiography, which is set to be released on March 13, depicts the hindrances and controversies faced by him in his different capacities. 
“It was misunderstood that I was the one who is leading former cardinal Varkey Vithayathil. I was held responsible for his allegiance to the Communist Party,” he writes. He flays the present condition of those who “insulted him calling a Communist” with the above lines.

“The Changanassery faction haunted me for participating in the nuns’ protest in Ernakulam against Bishop Franco of Jalandhar diocese. They took strong exception to my articles published in Mathrubhumi and Mangalam. Majority of the Catholic priests and nuns were against the protesting sisters….I had once decided to leave the Church after Alencherry Bishop took charge. However, Bishop Sebastian Adayanthrath didn’t let me go,” he further writes.

The autobiography also mentions many issues such as the controversial Ernakulam land scam,  adoption of a woman by former Bishop John Thattungal and Abhaya Case. He also mentions the case filed against him accusing him of preparing fake documents against Mar Alencherry.

“In the circular, issued by Alencherry for the bishops, stated he didn’t mean to arraign me and Bishop Jacob Manathodath. However, a different stand was taken in the court. Such a deception was never expected,” he adds in the book, published by Pranatha Books.
