Hundreds of parrots are regular visitors to this house; a unique story of human-bird friendship

Palluruthy (Ernakulam): A family is feeding hundreds of parrots that visit their house every day. Udayan and family residing in Janakiveedu at Palluruthy have been feeding the birds since lockdown started.
The rare friendship started after a parrot came to their house one day. Udayan, wife Jini and daughter Lakshmi gave food. Next day, more parrots came for food. The birds come to the house in the morning and evening without fail. The number of parrots increased day by day.
Jini comes out of the house with rice and lentils by 6 in the morning. By the time, the parrots will be waiting outside. Jini sprinkles the grains on the compound wall and then calls the birds. Then the pandemonium of parrots descend on the wall and start eating. Now the number of birds have crossed 100.
Parrots flee as soon as people come closer to them. They come to eat food during 4 - 5.30 in the evening. The birds have been visiting the house for about one year. Locals also are curious to see the flock of birds regularly visiting the house for food.
Udayan said that eagles also come to catch parrots on seeing them in large numbers. He is struggling to save the parrots from eagles. He and his family stop all other works and feed the parrots during the time of their visit.
