Kozhikode: The revenue department and Kerala State Financial Enterprises (KSFE) continue to remain mum even after identifying that attempts are being made to borrow money using fake documents. It is learnt that such incidents are reported in many places across the state. Fake documents, including a sketch of land and possession certificate, are being issued from parallel village offices which function by using fake seal of village officer and office rubber stamp.

Fake revenue documents produced this manner were submitted for applying loan in KSFE branches at Kallayi road and Engapuzha in Kozhikode. KSFE had sanctioned a huge sum of loans to an applicant who submitted fake documents at its office in Engapuzha. Apart from this, similar incidents were reported in other branches of KSFE in various parts of the state.

As this fraudulence came to light, KSFE stopped issuing loans over such fake documents.

The fraudsters have been operating the crime after purchasing land at low prices and making fake land documents. For applying huge loan, they show a higher valuation of land in the documents and use a land sketch which has a higher value in market. It is learnt that lakhs of rupees are being looted from KSFE by producing fake documents which show a higher value of the land.

The officials suspect that the fake documents are being created from the same centre. Whereas a higher level inquiry is needed to confirm this matter. It is alleged that the revenue department is not interested to initiate a probe into the incident.

The revenue department has been neglecting the issue even after finding the use of fake seals and rubber stamps of the village officer and village office. Even KSFE didn’t complain to police after experiencing similar fraud one after another.

Police registered a case after receiving a complaint from Balussery and Engapuzha village officers. But no further action was taken over the complaint.

The revenue department and KSFE were ignoring the incident identifying the role of some VIPs. Fake documents were produced similarly at Thinoor, Kavilumpara village office in Vadakara taluk.

KSFE has given directions to its managers in all branches to confirm that only genuine documents are accepted with loan applications.
