Pantheerankavu domestic violence case victim hospitalized with severe injuries

Kozhikode: The woman involved in the widely discussed Pantheerankavu domestic violence case in Kerala has been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital with severe injuries.
The woman’s husband, Rahul, brought her to the hospital in an ambulance on Monday night at around 8 pm. After admitting her, Rahul fled the scene, leaving his mother with her.
According to the woman’s statement to the hospital authorities, Rahul assaulted her at their home in Pantheerankavu and again in the ambulance while en route to the hospital. She sustained injuries to her face, head, lips, and left eye.
However, the woman later submitted a written statement to the Pantheerankavu police at around 11 p.m., saying that she do not wish to file a complaint and requested to be allowed to leave with her parents. She also asked the police for assistance in retrieving her certificates from her husband’s house in Pantheerankavu.
Following the incident, Feroke Assistant Commissioner AM Siddique has initiated an investigation. The woman's parents have left for Kozhikode after being informed by the police of her condition.
The case had earlier garnered significant attention after the woman accused Rahul P. Gopal and four others, including his mother, sister, a friend, and civil police officer of attempted murder, domestic violence, and dowry abuse. Initially, the complainant alleged that Rahul had attempted to strangle her and inflicted severe beatings, prompting her family to report the abuse to the police.
However, about a month later, the complainant retracted her statements, admitting they were false and expressing guilt over misleading the police and media. In a video posted on her YouTube channel, the woman revealed that her family had pressured her to accuse Rahul of dowry-related abuse. She expressed a desire to reconcile with her husband and avoid further legal proceedings.
Subsequently, the Kerala High Court quashed the case, bringing an end to the legal proceedings.
