Palakkad Class 9 student’s death: Class teacher and headmistress suspended

Palakkad: The management has taken disciplinary action against two teachers following the suspected suicide of a 14-year-old boy at Pallanchathanur in Palakkad. The action comes in the wake of the death of Arjun, a Class 9 student at Kannadi Higher Secondary School. The incident sparked protests from students at the school. Arjun's family alleged that he was threatened by the teachers, prompting the management to suspend headmistress Lissy and teacher Asha pending an inquiry.
Investigations are ongoing by both the police and the Department of Education. The school management stated that the suspension was based on student demands and to ensure the truth comes out.
Arjun was found hanging inside his home late at night. He was still in his school uniform when found.
According to Arjun’s family and some classmates, the teacher had allegedly threatened him with jail and said that a complaint would be filed with the cyber cell over an Instagram message. Meanwhile, some students alleged that Arjun’s family did not listen to his concerns.
