Palakkad: The revenue department has rejected the land conversion application submitted by Oasis Company for its proposed brewery project near Elappully in Palakkad. The application was denied by the Palakkad Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO), citing that the land in question is included in the data bank and must be preserved for cultivation. The RDO stated that construction on this land will not be permitted.

Oasis Company had sought permission to carry out construction on four acres of land. However, the RDO dismissed the request, citing the Land Utilisation Act. The RDO also directed the agriculture officer to verify the land’s agricultural status and ensure that cultivation is actively taking place before submitting a report.

CPI has opposed the Palakkad brewery project. While the party has not made an official announcement, reports suggest that a decision was taken at its state executive meeting in Alappuzha. The party had reportedly instructed Revenue Minister K. Rajan and Agriculture Minister P. Prasad to study the project and submit a report. CPI is expected to take a formal stance based on their findings.

Meanwhile, the Revenue Department, which falls under CPI’s control, has taken a decision that poses a challenge to the brewery project.
