Over Rs 1 crore hawala money seized in Kannur

Koottupuzha: Over Rs 1 crore was seized in a vehicle check conducted at the Karnataka-Kannur Koottupuzha excise check post on Tuesday early morning.

The money was recovered from Tamil Nadu natives. They were carrying the amount in sacks which were safely tied on to their bodies. The accused apparently confessed to the police that they were carrying the money to Malappuram district. The excise department has launched an investigation into the incident.
